Background Colostrum is a part of breast milk (ASI) which has a characteristic yellowish liquid that comes out on the first to the third day after giving birth. Colostrum contains 10-17 times more immune substances than mature milk, so it is very good to give because it functions to form the baby's antibodies. Negative impacts if babies are not given colostrum include jaundice which can result in death of the baby. Babies who are not given colostrum breast milk have higher rates of respiratory infections and gastrointestinal infections compared to other babies who are given colostrum breast milk. Support from health workers who assist with childbirth is a strengthening factor for giving breast milk to babies. What is related to breastfeeding in the first hour is health workers, especially midwives.
