Background:Stunting is a condition of failure to thrive in children under five due to chronic malnutrition, so that children are too short for their age (Yulidasari, et al, 2018). Stunting is one of the targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which includes the 2nd sustainable development goal, namely eliminating hunger and all forms of malnutrition by 2030 and achieving food security. The target set is to reduce the stunting rate by 40% by 2025 (Kurniawan, et al, 2018). Based on the Nutrition Case Data for Toddlers (0-59 months) (e-PPGBM) from the Merangin District Health Office in 2020, it is known that out of 21,866 toddlers whose height/age measurements were taken in the Working Area of the Merangin District Health Service, 1098 (5.02%) were found Toddlers experience stunting.
Research method:This type of research uses a type of quantitative analytic with a cross sectional design. The population is 36 people and the sample is the total population. Data was collected through a questionnaire. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the chi-square test.
Results: This study shows that there are 17 (47.2%) respondents with secondary education, 61.1% of respondents with high economic status, 50% of respondents with a history of non-LBW babies, mothers who have babies with exclusive breastfeeding (72.2%) of respondents, the results of statistical tests on parental education with X² count = 0.09, economic status with X² count = 0.043, history of LBW with X² count = 0.011 and exclusive breastfeeding with X² count = 0.017.
Conclusion:There is a relationship between education level, economic status, history of LBW and exclusive breastfeeding with the incidence of stunting in infants aged 12-59 months in Kederasan Panjang Village, working area of the Kederasan Panjang Health Center in 2023. It is hoped that the Kederasan Panjang Health Center, especially health workers, will increase counseling activities about factors causes of stunting that can be done through the pregnant women class program
